World Wellbeing week gives recognition to professional practitioners, charities and social enterprises who work hard in their particular area of wellbeing.
Wellbeing is a very broad term, and means something a little different to everyone.
Some elements of wellbeing in daily life include: health, happiness, family time, relaxation time, alone time, exhilaration, inspiration, read a book time, listen to music time, yoga, and many, many more.
World Wellbeing weeks looks closely at the 5 ways of Wellbeing, which are:
- Connect
Good relationships are essential for everyone’s mental wellbeing, giving a sense of belonging and self-worth.
- Get Active
Being active raises your self-esteem, as well as your heart rate! It causes chemical changes in your brain which can help to positively change your mood.
- Be Mindful
Mindfulness can help you enjoy life more, and also understand yourself better. Being mindful helps relieve stress, improves sleep, and can lower blood pressure, amongst other worthwhile benefits. - Keep Learning
Research shows that learning new skills and gaining knowledge elevates self-confidence, and helps you to connect with others.
- Give to Others
Acts of giving and kindness benefit both you, and the recipient of the kindness! As well as creating a sense of reward, giving to others gives a sense of purpose.
