What to eat and drink during the summer months to ensure you can still achieve your goals and have a good time.

During the summer months, people are prone to indulging in barbecue foods, cold desserts and alcohol. Now, as long as this is done in moderation it won’t affect your results.

A few things to keep in mind:

Drink plenty of water. This will ensure your hydration levels are up and you can flush the toxins out of your system. around 3-5 litres should be suffice based upon water needed due to the heat. Plus adding in lemon slices to the water will alkalise the water this will help to ensure your pH levels are higher and your body will be in an alkalised state. This means that your immune system will be performing optimally. Also, a growing number of research suggests that if your pH levels are lower i.e more Acidic there is a greater risk for conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and obesity. However if your pH levels higher i.e more alkalised are linked to improvements in memory and cognition, a reduction in pain and a lower risk of hypertension and stroke.

Also, avoid having foods that are high in fats combined with foods high in complex carbs. I.e don’t have a beef burger in a bun. This is key because when fats and carbs are consumed together the carbs get burned first and the fats get stored.
