HI I'm ben

BEN LINNIE
My start in life wasn’t what was typical for most people. I was diagnosed with ADHD at like 10 years old and written off as a “lost cause” & “no hoper” even by Family members. I went through a lot of dark times with no help and support, and was even homeless from the age of 17 for 2 years.
During that time I gained a lot of weight due to having to “survive” on takeaways because I’d often get food poisoning from what was served in a hostel I resided in, and was binge drinking beyond excess as a way to cope.
2010 I had a huge “non scale” victory by going 90 days cold turkey without drinking to prove to myself I wasn’t an alcoholic. I had started to make small changes to get healthier too. In 2011 I did the princes trust course which gave me a lot of confidence & it was fed back to me in the resisdential week I was a natural born leader as I was motivating & supporting everyone else when they were struggling with the thought of doing a 104food absail.

In 2012 I decided to go back to college to do level 2 in sport and during the induction week I got Grade 3 thigh strain while we were doing football rounders, I felt humiliated as 16/17 year olds were making it look easy and contemplated dropping out like I had other courses but I kept going back.

In January 2013 I changed gyms, and went through what I deem my body and lifestyle transformation, as I went from 18 stone at 40” waist jeans down to 12.5 stone at 30” waist jeans in 11 months thus disproving BMI and it inspired me to learn the whys & means to things. Part of it was cutting out toxic people who were holding me back and for the first time in my life putting myself first.
I then learned the why’s and means to things with my degree studies in health & exercise sciences, even giving back by being involved with the student union, the first year I was Vice president, Sports office & higher education officer then became president in the second year and developed and lead my team to the most successful year in the history of Tresham which hasn’t been matched since, not bad for a guy who told at young age he’d be dead before turning 21.

Started DDPYoga

DDPY

I started doing DDPYoga at the end of 2015, as despite seeing several sports therapists & physios, as well as studying injury rehabilitation as part of my degree studies; nothing I had been taught or had been told helped the issues in my knees (which included lateral tracking in both of them, and a bakers cyst in the back of another).

Turns out I had tight hips and doing DDPY helped to break up the scar Tissue to take the pressure off my knees; like me you may have discovered most people treat the symptoms rather than the cause, but because of things like this I work on finding the cause of the problem to help ensure issues don’t reoccur and this again has helped a lot of people especially those sent back and forth between different departments within the hospitals.

After leaving full time education in June 2016 I worked like crazy doing 70+ hours p/w in retail & during the annual leave I did my personal training, specialist & class certifications. I then started to take on clients & patients to officially help people in June 2018.

PUREGYM

Puregym in Corby

I went to Puregym in Corby in November 2018 and became the face of place so everyone could come and talk to me without the fear of being hardsold and made PT optional. I built a community of class regulars and also had the biggest client base (twice as many as everyone else combined). The higher ups of Puregym wanted me to be a manager at one of their Gyms in Leicester after I covered a shift at their other one and were blown away by things but turned it down as I felt it would take away from everything I had help to build up at Corby. When the lockdowns hit 6 months later I opted to leave because Puregym higher ups got greedy and as a result everyone I worked with including the managers also left.

I did mobile PT, and virtual classes even did P.E lessons at a school too. Then rented a room in a unit which was a salon for a year during which time I became certified in sports massage Therapy. I then took on my own premises in the yards in April 2022 and have been based here since.
I’m proud to have become the change I wanted to see and have helped a lot of people over the years especially with building confidence so they realise they can do things, something I needed many years ago.

massage therapy

CERTIFIED

In April 2026 I became certified in advanced Pregnancy and postnatal massage to combine my expertise of ante/postnatal exercise adaptations with Sports massage therapy to provide an even more unique service.

I honestly do all of this to primarily to help people because it gives me a sense of purpose not only setting the standards for what things should be (as unfortunately most PT’s don’t know a barbell from a doorbell nor do they care) because I truly care and proud to have become the change I wanted to see
